I do enjoy AVP unapologeticly. Chronicles and GL have a lot to love about them as well, though I can see where they fail. Both are too overblown, too long, and lean to heavily on CGI. GL needed to be leaner. I still stand by my belief t hat if we got rid (or at least minimized) the Parallax storyline and opened on earth, grounding the film, it would have worked MUCH better. Spending the first fifteen minuets or so in space - even in the theatre I felt like I was watching a video game. The extended edition goes a long way towards fixing this, restoring some scenes with young Hal and Carol in the beginning, but I still think it needed to go farther, perhaps keeping who and what Abin Sur was a mystery until much later in the film.
